Jeddah's hosting of the tournament signifies a monumental moment in the Kingdom's sporting history. The Next Gen ATP Finals are an exciting showcase of great, young talent on the ATP Tour featuring the world’s best 21-and-under singles players. To exemplify the quality of talent, previous winners of the tournament include the current World No. 2 and two-time major champion Carlos Alcaraz, World No. 4 Jannik Sinner and Stefanos Tsitsipas, World No. 7.
The players for the 2023 Next Gen ATP Finals will qualify through the Pepperstone ATP Race to Jeddah, with one of the eight spots reserved for a wild card. The young stars of the game are currently competing in the final events of the ATP Tour season to capture the necessary points for a chance to compete for the US $2 million prize purse in Jeddah.
Alongside the world’s best young players, the Next Gen ATP Finals also tests rules and innovations, with several going on to be adopted across the ATP Tour. These have raised the bar for fans, the players and the sport, including enhanced in-game analytics and off-court coaching. The exciting rules and innovations being trialed in Jeddah this year will be announced shortly.
The groundbreaking tournament strongly aligns with Saudi Arabia’s young population and the Saudi Tennis Federation’s (STF) mission to inspire and nurture young talent in the sport.
In the past few years, the Federation has committed to fostering interest in tennis among the nation’s young, sports-loving population with various grassroots initiatives and recreational clinics including the national Tennis for All program. In collaboration with the Saudi Sports For All Federation (SFA), Tennis for All was a program designed for elementary, middle, and high school students of both genders, with a goal to raise awareness of the benefits of playing tennis, contribute to the development of a thriving, healthy sports community, and advance school tennis in the Kingdom. This year alone, 12,143 students enjoyed the program across Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam.
