Ben Shelton has looked at home at the Australian Open, where he is into the third round on his tournament debut. The #NextGenATP American is far away from home, though.
The 20-year-old is on his first international trip. Naturally, there was one thing he was excited to see in Australia.
“I definitely want to go see some animals,” Shelton said, before cracking yet another smile. “I don’t know if it’s at a zoo, but I want to see some koalas or kangaroos, something like that. I think that would be really cool.”

The zoo came to Shelton on Friday at Melbourne Park, where for two hours players were able to interact with a koala, snakes, wallabies, birds and possums. The American posed for photos with the koala and a wallaby.
The lefty will try to check off another first on Saturday when he attempts to reach the fourth round at a Grand Slam for the first time. Shelton will play Australian wild card Alexei Popyrin.
