Andy Murray shared his praise for Naomi Osaka with the world on Wednesday, and the WTA star wasted no time returning the favour following her second-round win at the Australian Open.

"Anyone hit the ball cleaner from the baseline than @naomiosaka??" Murray tweeted while watching Osaka’s 6-0, 6-4 win against Madison Brengle.

“Anyone put their heart on their sleeve and fight harder than @andy_murray?????” Osaka replied following her match.

Murray is a big fan of women’s tennis. In October, the former World No. 1 met with another WTA star, Iga Swiatek, at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

Murray and Osaka hit together in December 2018 in Brisbane. In her post-match press conference on Wednesday, Osaka said she appreciated Murray's praise.

“It definitely means a lot. For me it was a really cool moment. It's a little bit shocking, because when you're playing, you never really think about [how] the TV is broadcasting it and other people are watching,” Osaka said. “Definitely really surreal. I hit with him once like three years ago, and it was a memory that's really dear to me.

“It was really cool just to have someone like him talking about my game.”

Murray will try to join Osaka in the third round on Thursday when he plays Japan's Taro Daniel.
