Making their first doubles appearance since winning the Wimbledon title in a fifth-set tie-break, Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell got back to winning ways on Tuesday at the Atlanta Open. The fourth seeds saved the only break point they faced in a 6-3, 7-6(4) victory against Alexei Popyrin and Frances Tiafoe, setting up an all-Aussie quarter-final against Jason Kubler and John Peers.
Kubler and Peers moved past Andrei Duarte and Alvaro Regalado Pedrol 6-3, 6-2 in their opening match at the ATP 250 event.

Brazilian-Spanish pair Rafael Matos and David Vega Hernandez have captured three tour-level crowns together this year, but on Tuesday they nearly lost in the first round at the Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag. The second seeds found a way to win though, clawing past Frenchman Albano Olivetti and Brazilian Fernando Romboli 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 to reach the quarter-finals in Umag.
Top seeds Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini enjoyed more straightforward progress with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Roberto Carballes Baena and Tomas Martin Etcheverry.
